RESOLVED: To move item 11 (To consider the contents of a letter received from Ashfield District Council dated 18th June 2024 which is marked ‘private and confidential’), to ‘confidential’ due to it being of a sensitive nature.
- Police report
PCs Rob Cook and Joley Sisson introduced themselves and gave a brief background to their knowledge of the area. They acknowledged that they are keen to work with the local community and the Parish Council for the benefit of the area.
The Parish Council were then given a chance to ask questions and there was a discussion around the ongoing problem with off-road bikers. The Police were keen to note this and agreed to take the concerns back to the Off-road Bike Team meeting.
There was also a discussion about the use of the Police Hub and the fact that it needed to be used, to potentially retain further use of it. Options were discussed around the opportunity of having specified times when residents could drop in to discuss concerns. They were very amenable to this, subject to shift patterns and other priorities at any given time, but they were very keen to retain the facility that is provided.

RESOLVED: To accept the minutes of the meeting held on 20 May 2024 as a true record

- To consider lending Brinsley with Underwood Church the Parish Council’s gazebo for an event on 14th July 2024

The Cyber Insurance pack, together with quote was circulated to Councillors on 18th June 2024.
RESOLVED: To approve the quotation for the renewal of the Cyber Insurance policy at a cost of £405.25
- Consider hiring a skip for the use of Nottingham Road allotment plot holders
RESOLVED: To approve the hiring of a skip for the use of Nottingham Road allotment holders.
It was further suggested that notices were given to all allotment holders of that site and that the skip be positioned at the far end of the site, furthest away from the main road.
- To consider pending Planning Applications
A discussion was held regarding planning application V/2024/0239.
RESOLVED: To send a letter to the applicant offering one parking space at the Old Council Offices, subject to availability. Further, to submit a letter to ADC supporting the small business and stating that the Parish Council will provide the use of one parking space at the Old Council Offices, depending on availability.
- To consider how the Parish Council will address putting representatives forward to speak at Planning Committee meetings on applications within designated areas
Cllr Easom temporarily left the meeting at 8.14 pm and returned at 8.16 pm

RESOLVED: To discuss Parish Councillor representative(s) for Planning Committee meetings at each meeting as a standard agenda item.
It was noted that the representative would be presenting the views of the Parish Council, not as an individual.

- To update and consider advice from PD Solutions in relation to employment contracts and approve subsequent proposals recommended by HR Committee on 10th June 2024
A verbal summary was provided as to the ongoing consultation on changes to the Statement of Terms and Conditions of employment.
RESOLVED: To approve the HR Committee’s recommendation in relation to the additional optional 3 hours per week for the Assistant Clerk. Further to approve that TOIL will be allowed as an option, subject to the discretion of the Clerk.
It was suggested that the Clerk find out more information around the timing of when the TOIL should be used by.
RESOLVED: To approve the HR recommendation that travel time will no longer be paid for by the Parish Council.
- Update from Bio-diversity Committee
It was agreed for the Bio-diversity Committee to arrange to have a meeting.
- Update from D-Day 80th Anniversary event
The Chair gave a summary of the success of the event, together with costings.
RESOLVED: To send a letter of thanks to Pearsons Fair, the First Aiders, Jane Gregory and also to send thanks (with the donation) to the Rock n Soul Singers.
- Christmas Committees to confirm timings and dates of Christmas events – noted
- To consider holding a Christmas event at Selston Parish Hall in conjunction with the trustees of Selston Parish Village Halls Charity
A few suggestions and dates were put forward, but this item was deferred to next meeting when hopefully more Councillors will be present. The Clerk was asked to check availability of the Parish Hall.
- To consider changing the date of the October 2024 Parish Council meeting as a one-off
RESOLVED: To change the date of the October meeting to 21st October to accommodate the attendance of the Clerk.
- To agree a venue for the next meeting to be held on Monday, 29 July 2024 at 7.30 pm
It was agreed for the July meeting to be held at Jacksdale Community Centre
