Selston Parish Council spearheaded the development of a Neighbourhood plan for the parish, and a steering group was established to develop the plan, with the help of professional planners.
This group, which was made up of local residents was named jus-t, (reflecting the villages of Jacksdale & Westwood, Underwood & Bagthorpe and Selston) and it was responsible for the development of the plan.
The plan took into account the views of local people with regard to a wide range of subjects, such as housing, retail, business, education, leisure, medical services etc.
This was a big undertaking, being the largest parish in the country. However, it was also a great opportunity for local people to make decisions about issues which were important to us, rather than having those decisions imposed on us.
